However, computers were not developed in a single day. They evolved gradually over many years. The history of computers is divided into different eras based on the technology used during that period. These eras show how computers developed and improved over time.
1. Mechanical Era
The Mechanical Era was the earliest stage in the development of computers. During this period, people used mechanical devices made of gears, wheels, and levers to perform calculations. These devices did not use electricity.
Major Inventions and Devices of Mechanical Era
a) Abacus
The Abacus is considered one of the earliest calculating devices. It was invented around 3000 BC and was used for counting and performing simple arithmetic calculations.

b) Napier’s Bones
